I love a good story. And I especially adore one that inspires and motivates. I believe that desire is a strong motivator, yet seldom is anything accomplished without passion. This is a fact that Becky Smith, owner and president of Thatchers’ Fine Timeless Fabric, knows firsthand. As is often the case, inspiration can come from anywhere, and for Becky it came in the form of a boudoir chair. In this case, it was a singular chair that sparked the imagination and set into motion a series of unforeseen events spanning three continents. Read More on NYSD…
Ronda, What a lovely article! Truly regaling our wonderful adventures.
I am dedicating this story in memory of my mom, because that is really where the story begins. To be able to capture that love, those beautiful memories, in our très petite chair covered in a fabric of unparalleled quality, with designs created by the original hands and hearts of my childhood, somehow soothes away the worries of today and allows me to be filled with hope that dreams are attainable.
Vous êtes le meilleur !
Merci beaucoup pour tout!
Tu amie,
Becky
I love love love these fabrics and adore the boudoir chair! And especially love that my dad inspired Becky!
Mary, I loved seeing your comment! Each photograph taken by your dad freezes in time some happy moment in a family’s story. We’ve all been there and have our wonderful memories. It is that emotional tug at our heart, the feeling evoked by that beautiful snapshot of the past, is exactly what we are about. Your dad was a brilliant artist!
What a lovely photo; it drew me in immediately. I wanted to stop in and say hello — and to invite you to check out a GiveAway at “my place” — for porcelain enamel house numbers from Denmark. Have a nice weekend, -susan

What a beautiful story. I love that this design was motivated by love, family memories, talent, and creativity. And that picture of Becky sitting amidst all the beautiful chintz fabrics speaks volumes. I am always moved by talented women living out their dreams.
