Happy Memorial Day to all of my friends, family and readers in the US. Today the sun is shining and it is a bank holiday in Scotland. A perfect day for grilling and playing boules in the back garden. I thought I would share this wonderful photo of Slim Aarons and his daughter. Enjoy your day!

Hi Ronda..I am a longtime fan of your blog, but somehow i’ve gotten behind this week and missed Monday’s post. A friend just emailed me to let me know that you’d featured the pic of me and my dad from many moons ago. If I’d known that photo would someday be a part of Getty’s archive I would have tucked my shirt in! And, oh how i wish i had those abs today! Your timing if quite fitting. My dad died two years ago this week, on the day after Memorial Day. And he did love his window boxes. He spent hours on them each week when he was home. And I spent my Memorial Day weekend doing mine…with the same sort of geraniums and vinca that he used on his. I see that you’ve also just blogged about the newest book of my dad’s photos. BTW he would have hated that book. The production values are not up to his standards. There aren’t “deep captions” as he prefered. And he would have selected lots of different photos than the ones that Abrams used. My mom and I hope that future books will be published to a better standard!
      Have a great summer!
