    Join me in Provence

    by  • 19 Feb ’13 • profile • 3 Comments

A few years ago I had the pleasure of joining Nikki Maxwell, founder of Picnics in Provence, for an amazing weeklong stay at Kathryn M. Ireland’s house overlooking the Tescou Valley in France. It was one of my most memorable holidays to date. This time around, Nikki has asked me to join her in Provence from June 1 to June 8. We will be staying in a spectacular 9th century priory complete with a vineyard and panoramic views of Mt Ventoux. This trip will be hosted by Nikki, myself, and a Michelin starred chef.

New Site: All the Best Passport

    by  • 22 Jul ’12 • travel • 3 Comments

Travel is one of my great loves, despite the fact I am a very nervous flyer. The thrill of landing in a new location or simply planning a trip is sublime. Thanks to my friends at Mr & Mrs Smith and a few wonderful hotels,  I have experienced some  amazing places and locales. It has always been my custom to post my favorite locations on All the Best Blog, but now they will also all live together on All the Best Passport. I will continue to add to the list so check back often. Likewise, I love suggestions

    The Amalfi Coast: Le Sirenuse

    by  • 13 Jul ’12 • profile • 13 Comments

One locale I dream of often (passportless or not) is the Amalfi Coast, especially Positano. Positano was a relatively poor fishing village during the first half of the 20th century. It first began to attract large numbers of tourists in the 1950s, after John Steinbeck published his essay about village for the May 1953 issue of Harper’s Bazaar: “Positano bites deep,” Steinbeck wrote. “It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”

Mr & Mrs Smith: Villa Sassolini

It’s no secret that I suffer wanderlust. Perhaps the only thing that I enjoy as much as traveling is planning a trip.  I could research hotels and destinations for hours (my bucket list is rather large). Sadly, there has been no travel in our household or any trips on the agenda for the summer. After living in the UK for 6 years we had to apply for an ‘Indefinite Leave to Remain’ status and pass the ‘Life in the UK’ exam in order to renew our visas. The good news is we passed the test; the bad news is it’s a 6 months process. We sent everything off to London on the first of April and we are still passportless!

Hotel Review for Mr & Mrs Smith: Baglioni – London

    by  • 19 Dec ’11 • profile • 7 Comments

Last week both my husband and I had to be in London for business. However, being that it is Christmastime, we were determined to make it a proper getaway…at least to the extent time would allow. Lucky for us Christmas came early in the form of a two-night stay at The Baglioni Hotel (Thank you Mr & Mrs Smith for the introduction!). Part of the Baglioni Italian collection, the hotel is la dolce vita realized in the heart of London’s Kensington. Just east of Kensington High Street, opposite Hyde Park, the location (and view) is as desirable as any.

    by  • 6 Aug ’11 • profile • 2 Comments

One of my favorite discoveries this summer was Privet House in the sleepy hamlet of Warren, Connecticut. An emporium of homegoods, antiques and curiosities, Privet House is co-owned and curated by fashion accessories maven, Richard Lamberston and antiques dealer Suzanne Cassano. Tweet

This past weekend was my first visit to Cape Ann and the town of Gloucester (America’s Oldest Seaport). Cape Ann is a rocky cape in northeastern Massachusetts and forms the northern edge of Massachusetts Bay.  I think it is one of the prettiest coastlines in all of Massachusetts. Tweet
